Hassaku Festival 八朔祭 はっさくまつり

The Rice is a Bloomin’ So We Need to Pray for Abatement of the Divine Winds

The Hassaku is a festival held at a variety of locations around Japan, but particularly Kyoto and Kumamoto in Kyushu. This Festival is the last of the summer festivals. September is a time of both a lot of insects and typhoons; both of which can destroy crops! So people go to pray for calm skies and a safe harvest. It is generally held on the first Sunday of September. But it varies slightly from place to place.
