The 210th Day 二百十日 にひゃくとうか
A Time for Typhoons and Natural Disasters!
The 210th Day usually falls on September 1st and is an inauspicious day for Japanese formers and fishermen. Basically, it is 210 days since the beginning of Rishun, Chinese New Year. At this time the rice is blossoming, so if a typhoon were to blow up then it could potentially wipe out the entire crop across the region! Though this day statistically does not have more danger of typhoons than the rest of September, it does mark the beginning of typhoon season in Japan. Since ancient times, this day has made both Japanese farmers and fishermen nervous.References
