Not Just for the Winter Solstice

The winter solstice in Japan falls on December 21st from 2020 onwards. There are a variety of interesting traditions on this day. It is considered a good luck day because from now on the days are getting longer. So everyone is on the rise from this day on, according to tradition. Therefor it is also a good time to eat some good luck foods. One of these foods is Kabocha aka Japanese pumpkin. Another good luck food is Azuchi red beans. The color read is symbolic of the sun. People should take a bath with Yuzu citruses on this day for good health. Yuzu are plentiful at this time of year. Taking a bath with them helps people to feel calm from the scent and the vitamin C could be good for the skin.
