SUMMARY:Namahage in Akita Prefecture 生剥　なまはげ（秋田)
DESCRIPTION:\nScaring the Kiddies into Being Good on New Years Eve\nSome Good Ol’ Namahage Fun!\nNamahage is a cultural tradition in Akita prefecture that occurs on December 31st every year and is very similar to the Krampus tradition around Austria.\nIn traditional Japanese folklore these are demonlike beings, portrayed by men wearing hefty oni (ogre) masks and traditional straw capes (mino) during a New Year’s ritual of the Oga Peninsula area of Akita Prefecture in northern Honshū, Japan. Namahage is sure to be something that you don’t see everyday, and in while may not be able to see again.\nHow Do They Do Namahage?\nThe frightfully dressed men of Namahage, armed with deba knives (albeit wooden fakes or made of papier-mâché) and toting a teoke (手桶, “hand pail” made of wood), march in pairs or threes going door-to-door making rounds of people’s homes, admonishing children who may be guilty of laziness or bad behavior, yelling phrases like “Are there any crybabies around?” (泣く子はいねがぁ Nakuko wa inee gā?) or “Are naughty kids around?” (悪い子はいねえか Waruiko wa inee ka?) in the pronunciation and accent of the local dialect.\nNamahage As Cultural Tourism\nThis cultural tradition is found in northern Japan in general. However, Namahage has become a point for tourism lately and actors are sent around the world to perform for foreign audiences as a way to advertise Akita prefecture. In fact, people come from around Japan to see winter performances during the latter part of December in Akita prefecture itself as part of Winter Break tourism. If you want to see some of Japan’s traditional village culture and traditions, Namahage is a great intangible cultural event that is sure to be something different.\nReferences\nIn English\nWikipedia ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Namahage )\nOfficial Website ( https://www.namahage.co.jp/namahagekan/english/namahage )\nTohoku Travel Information ( https://jnto.tohokumoment.com/en/akita/f2-namahage/ )\nIn Japanese\nhttps://matcha-jp.com/cn/1587 ( https://matcha-jp.com/cn/1587 )\nhttps://kotobank.jp/word/生剥-2005389 ( https://kotobank.jp/word/生剥-2005389 )\nPhoto thanks to Kanegen @ WikiMedia.org ( https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/ファイル:Namahage.jpg ).\nOther Articles You Might Be Interested In Similar to Namahage\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nゴロゴロ生剥き海老 解凍後1kgに山盛り90〜120尾入 下処理済みで簡単調理 えび エビ むき海老 むきえび むきエビ 剥きえび 剥きエビ価格：2999円（税込、送料無料) (2020/11/6時点)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n秋田 なまはげコスチューム なまはげ面(青) 開運・無病息災 迫力満点！秋田のなまはげ【秋田 はまはげ グッズ お土産 特産 おみやげ ご当地 逸品 銘産】価格：3850円（税込、送料別) (2020/11/6時点)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nrakuten_design="slide";rakuten_affiliateId="194c1902.4e292998.194c1903.70e7fb9d";rakuten_items="ranking";rakuten_genreId="0";rakuten_size="728x200";rakuten_target="_blank";rakuten_theme="gray";rakuten_border="on";rakuten_auto_mode="on";rakuten_genre_title="off";rakuten_recommend="on";rakuten_ts="1582255594289";\n\n\n
